G Shakim accepted his name while participating in plant ceremony initiations with the Shuar Tribe of the Amazon in Macas, Ecuador. Shakim is the bird deity that watches over the warriors as they hunt at night!

His time spent in Ecuador and Costa Rica allowed G Shakim to walk with ancestors and remember talks on the farm with his grandfather, John Ellis, at an early age. Even then, they engaged in discussions of the Bible, and its meaning. This inspired a lifelong study of religion, history, sociology, and spirituality. The messages from Spirit informed him that he is continuing a path of generational healing that began with his mothers and forefathers. The journey to healing is both singular and communal. Through our healing, we can be an example and hold space for those seeking their wholeness.

G Shakim prayed, and studied in temples in Egypt, Thailand, S. Korea, Haiti, Belize, Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador and many other grand places. In the last 10 years, he has studied with a primarily feminine lineage with Amina Peterson of the Atlanta Institute of Tantra, Dr. Barbara King of Hillside International, & Devi Ward of the Authentic Institute of Tantra. His primary philosophies are simple: Revolutionary Black Love & Kindness. This is his life practice!
